Hatha is the traditional form of yoga from where all other styles originated. ‘Ha’ refers to the sun and ‘tha’ to the moon. It aims to balance the sun and the moon within – bring balance between the opposites. Our practice incorporates awareness, stability and balance and each posture is held for longer.
This class has been modified to suit complete beginners. Modifications are given to enable each student to attain his/her best potential. Props are used and alignment is given importance in all classes. Attention is given to engage the right muscle groups to ensure long term benefits and injury prevention.
This is a Level 1 Class and is suitable for:
A beginner looking to ease into yoga practice:
It is very important for beginners to gain understanding of the basics of asana practice to ensure safety. Once you master the basic principles and develop awareness, you can practice anywhere without worrying about injuries.
Someone with pre-existing injuries
This could be lower back pain, knee injury, Shoulder impingement, flat feet related problems etc. These injuries can aggravate in a larger group lesson, but as our classes are in small groups, you get personal attention and corrections from the instructor. It will enable you to begin or find your way back to yoga practice.
Students dealing with postural or muscle imbalances
Excessive sitting, working on computers, mobile phone use etc. have created a new set of postural issues. Yoga can help correct these problems when practiced consistently and with focus.
Someone who wishes to incorporate Yoga to fight lifestyle diseases
Lifestyle diseases like blood pressure, cholesterol, gout are common due to present day lifestyle and yoga can provide benefit by bringing about physical as well as internal changes.
Students who have practiced before, but are looking for corrections and the right way to practice asanas
If you have never been taught the basic alignment in asana practice, it is possible to develop hyper flexibilty in the joints which can create problems later on. Similarly, we all have imbalances in the body and if not corrected by the teacher, we tend to aggravate those imbalances with our practice. In our Level 1 classes, we work towards correction and bringing balance within.
A self taught Yogi looking for guidance and improving their asana practice
Many people are self taught yogis, following books and online videos and attending classes here and there. It is always good to gain assistance from a qualified instructor who can guide you through your practice. Slight alterations in the way you do your asanas can make a huge change in progress.
