This energising and exhilarating power yoga practice will see us move with the breath from simple to deeper and more complex asanas. Powerful, rigorous and invigorating at the same time, these classes are suited for ‘Level 1 advanced’, intermediate to advanced students. The focus of the sessions can vary in every class – from core strengthening, full leg focus, hip opening to full body strengthening – you will be challenged through the practice. We will tackle simple arm balances and variations in the practice as well.
The word Power Yoga was originally coined by American yoga enthusiasts – Beryl Bender Birch and Bryan Kest in the late eighties. Both were students of the Ashtanga tradition of yoga.
In our power yoga sessions, we maintain the focus on breath and movement and hold postures to build strength. As always, individuals are asked to work within their capabilities. Variations are provided for postures to make it available to all.
